Chemically inert and thermally stable to 550°F (287°C), Membrane RZ® is a PTFE (polytetraflouroethylene) surface filter membrane that is thermally bonded onto a variety of substrates. Exclusively available from PSC, the Membrane RZ family includes:
Up to 50% Stronger. Manufactured using a proprietary Scrim-LOCK™ manufacturing process, the Membrane RZ family of products are made with a special single-filament scrim to support an array of felts. The Scrim-LOCK process was developed to eliminate bag-sag common with ordinary membrane bags. Engineered to have a Mullen Burst strength exceeding 600 psi and tensile (WARP/FILL) values exceeding 130/205 (lb/inch), Membrane RZ (polyester felt) is up to 50% stronger than the other leading brand-name membrane products. Thermally Bonded. Engineered not to delaminate, Membrane RZ is thermally bonded to a proprietary line of specially treated substrates using our exclusive Therma-WELD™ process. By eliminating delamination, the Therma-WELD process assures that Membrane RZ will maintain its initial superior strength and integrity longer than ordinary membrane fabrics. Constant Permeability. During surface filtration, Membrane RZ will minimize the sort of dust caking that can cause significant pressure losses. Membrane RZ is an expanded micro-porous PTFE surface laminate that will maintain moisture resistance even when filtering very fine hydroscopic materials. Compared with standard needle felt products that quickly lose permeability with use, Membrane RZ will maintain a near constant permeability throughout its working life. By providing near zero emissions, the Membrane RZ family of products meet or exceed the strictest regulatory standards. Highest Level PM2.5 Emissions Efficiency. Membrane RZ fabrics, tested using ASTM/ETV test procedures, removed 99.9999% of standard Pural NF Alumina particles having a mean diameter of 1.5 (plus or minus one micron). Because of their superior filtration efficiency, toughness and longevity, Membrane RZ products are your most cost effective solution to tough regulatory requirements. When a large chemical manufacturer told us he needed a stronger bag for a special application, our laboratory first developed the Projectile Impact Test; then it developed the PSC exclusive Scrim-LOCK process that causes Membrane RZ to be 50% stronger (as measured by both Mullen Burst and Projectile Impact) than bags made with competitive membrane materials. When a major pharmaceutical manufacturer told us his bags were prematurely losing pressure, our lab tests showed that the pressure-drop was not caused by clogging but by delamination of the membrane bags he was using. PSC went on to develop the Therma-BOND process. It is this sort of scientific testing and problem solving that constantly informs our product development and keeps PSC the leader in the field.
